Dr. Jared and the app

Is Dr. Jared a real physical therapist?
Yes — Dr. Jared, DPT is a licensed physical therapist whose YouTube channel has helped 3M+ people work through pain and move better. The app encodes the protocols he uses in clinic and online. Responses inside the app are AI-assisted to deliver his expertise at scale, but the underlying knowledge is his.
What conditions can the app help with?
Common musculoskeletal issues: lower back, neck and shoulders, knee, hip, shoulder, ankle and foot, upper back, and wrist and elbow. The app focuses on conditions usually treated with physical therapy exercises — strains, postural pain, stiffness, mobility issues, common overuse injuries.
When should I NOT use the app?
Skip it for sharp/severe pain, trauma (fall, accident, sports injury), numbness or tingling that won’t resolve, loss of bladder/bowel control, fever with back pain, or anything that doesn’t improve over 2 weeks of consistent practice. Those need a human provider.
Is the app a substitute for in-person PT?
No. It’s a complement. For everyday aches and the kind of issues an in-person PT would treat with home exercises anyway, the app is excellent. For acute or complex issues, see a clinician.
Does the app cost anything?
During early access the app is free to create an account and use — no credit card required. Pricing for full membership will be announced in the app before anything changes.

Plans and workouts

How long does a plan take?
1–4 weeks for most plans, with daily routines of about 10–20 minutes. Some longer plans (e.g. post-surgical recovery) run 6+ weeks.
Do I need any equipment?
Most plans are body-weight only. A yoga mat, foam roller, or light resistance band can be handy for some exercises but is never required to start.
Can I run multiple plans at the same time?
Yes — and many people do. See Active & past plans for the details.
What if I miss a day?
The plan rolls forward — there’s no penalty. Just pick up where you left off.
What if an exercise hurts?
Stop it. Use the Skip exercise link on the workout screen and message Dr. Jared in chat so he can swap in something else.
Where do the demo videos come from?
Videos come from Dr. Jared and other licensed PT professionals demonstrating proper form. Each exercise in your plan has its own short demo.
How long until I feel better?
Most people report meaningful change in 7–14 days of consistent practice. Two weeks in without improvement is the cue to message Dr. Jared and consider in-person help.

Chat with Dr. Jared

How should I describe my pain?
The clearer the better. Where it hurts, when it started, what makes it worse, what makes it better. See Chatting with Dr. Jared for examples.
Can I have more than one chat?
Yes — start a new chat any time. Many users have separate chats per body area.
Will Dr. Jared diagnose me?
No clinical diagnoses. He’ll describe what’s likely going on based on your symptoms and build a plan around it.
Does Dr. Jared remember our previous chats?
Within a chat: full memory. Across chats: he uses My Info and My Chart to carry context forward.
Can I modify a plan via chat?
Yes. “Swap out the bird dog,” “make the plan shorter,” “add some neck stretches” all work. Dr. Jared will edit and resend the plan.

Account and data

Where is my data stored?
Your account, chats, plans, and profile are stored securely with our infrastructure provider. We don’t sell your data and don’t share it with advertisers.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — email support from the address on your account and we’ll remove it along with your chats, plans, and profile.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password?. You’ll get a one-time reset link via email.
How do I change my email address?
Contact support for now. Self-serve email change is on the roadmap.

Installing the app

Is there an iOS / Android app?
Dr. Jared is a Progressive Web App, which means you install it from your phone’s browser. On iPhone, tap the Share icon in Safari and choose “Add to Home Screen.” On Android, you’ll see an install banner when you visit the site.
Why a PWA and not a native app?
PWAs install in seconds, update instantly, and don’t require an app store. You get the full-screen experience of a native app with none of the install friction.
Will it work offline?
Most parts of the app work fine on flaky connections. Generating a new plan or sending a chat message requires an internet connection.
